Aurish Parliamentary Elections, 2010

After the failure of the recent budget proposal in the Aurish parliament, and the inability of single party to maintain the confidence of the members, an election has been called in Aurikan.

This polling centre will attempt to canvas the global community in an attempt to display the opinions surrounding citizens throughout Terra Firma regarding these elections. Elections in Aurikan operate using proportional representation, and thus voters will put forth their support for a political party rather than a specific candidate.

Each of the major political parties are described below:

1. Social Democratic Party-
Currently the largest party in Aurikan's parliament, the social democrats maintain a policy of left-wing progressivism through social democracy. Their platform includes…

2. Liberal Party-

3. Conservative Party-
The Conservative Party of Aurikan is the nation's centre-right party. Their policies embody individualism and conservatism in all aspects of society. Their platform includes…

• freedom of the individual, including freedom of speech and worship
  
• establishing a competitive, free market economy
  
• support of Aurish tradition, such as the monarchist structure and public health care
  
• increased international participation and trade

4. Green Party-
The Green Party of Aurikan is dedicated to the expansion of environmentalism in Aurikan. Legislation, economic policy, and international pressure are all tools to be utilized in the Green's policy.

5. Marxist-Leninist Party-
The Marxist-Leninist Party of Aurikan is an extreme left-wing party who's policies include a restructuring of Aurish society based on that of a communist state. Complete political, economic and, social overhaul is advocated by the party.

6. Republican Party-
The Republican Party of Aurikan is another extremist political party whose goals include dismantling the monarchy and establishing an Aurish Republic. The party holds a fairly moderate position in other aspects, however their plans for political reform are what classify them as extreme.
